The warm weather is returning this weekend in Quesnel

Temperatures are rising for the first time to above 0 C this winter

After record-breaking cold fell over Quesnel during the holidays, those hoping for warmer weather in Cariboo will have their wish.

Environment Canada’s forecasts that temperatures in Quesnel are expected to rise drastically by this weekend. While temperatures below minus on Sunday are still forecast, with a maximum of -3 C and a low point at night of -4 C, the snow should start to melt on Monday.

It had gotten so cold that the Cariboo Ski Touring Club had to close their rental shop and lodge.

January 10 is expected to have a high temperature of 2 C, with the possibility of rain or snow at night. Temperatures above minus are expected to hold until Tuesday night.

Mild temperatures of -1 and -2 have been forecast for Wednesday 12 January and Thursday 13 January respectively.

The website timeanddate.com notes that the average temperature for Quesnel in January is -6 C.
