Summer Night boss Andy Lopez has hailed the hooners who make burnouts on Yallourn Street, Fyshwick, throw bottles at police vehicles and light fireworks, saying “our participants do not behave like that because it is not their thing”. “We discourage that behavior all the time, and as far as we understand, these are the vehicles that are causing the problems, they are not Summernats participants, they do not have our [entrant] stickers [on their cars], they are not our people, “he said.” Our message is that if you want to have fun with your car, do so under safe and controlled conditions. “He said that if the cars involved had Summernats participant stickers, they would be banned from attending the event.Police were called to Fyshwick on Thursday night around 10.40pm after reports of a large crowd – over 1000 people – were gathered there, with cars burning out and fireworks being lit.When police arrived, “The crowd surrounded the vehicles and the fireworks were aimed at police cars.
