FIRST Nations company Yirigaa is looking for native graduates to complete their cyber security incident scholarship programs beginning this month. The scholarships are a 13-week work-integrated learning program that graduates can participate in via the virtual virtual sessions or see them in their own time through Yirigaa’s Online Learning Management System (LMS). This opportunity is available to all Aborigines interested in technology, specifically cybersecurity, to learn from industry experts and gain hands-on experience. Yirigaa chairman, associate professor Dr. Lynette Riley, a Wiradjuri and Gamilaroi woman from Dubbo and Moree has urged indigenous peoples to sign up. “Regardless of your current situation, unemployed, employed, in school or your level of education,” she said. The founder of Yirigaa director and cybersecurity expert Jeff Whitton said the industry has a desperate need for cybersecurity skills and resources across all spheres of government and industry “Our program combines a curriculum and gamified artificial intelligence cybersecurity series that enables graduates to be retrained, upgraded or for those who enter the industry to be trained and certified, “said Mr. Whitton. The sessions are virtual, allowing candidates to attend the sessions anywhere they have a computer connected to the Internet. The course provides real-world cyber scenarios, missions, and combat room labs that enable graduates to learn and complete assignments assigned by mentors.
