What makes a man spend his time and money acquiring a few thousand copies of Burger King’s stealth-action commercial Sneak King? I have no idea, but wrestler and professional thumb enthusiast Leeroy Patterson seems to be having a really good time with it.
Sneak King is a video game produced by Burger King for the Xbox 360 back in 2006. Alongside card games PocketBike Racer, and bumper car fighter Big Bumpin ‘, the games were sold in late November to December for four dollars with the purchase of a valuable meal. Sneak King was a stealth-action game in which players take on the role of Burger King’s spooky plastic head, the mascot who tries to deliver valuable meals to various customers. It turned out to be the most popular of the three games. Despite the smell of fat and stale french fries, more than 2.7 million copies of the trio were sold during the campaign.
Leeroy Patterson plans to own so many copies of Sneak King as he possibly can. Over the weekend, the professional wrestler, who you may have seen diving into piles of finger sticks on national television, posted a picture of his Sneak King collection on Reddit. With 2,706 copies, he is pretty far from catching all of them, while still possessing far more Sneak King than anyone should.
According to Mr. Patterson began his collection with a copy of each of the three Burger King games. Then he dropped over 50 copies off Sneak King in a thrift store. With 51 copies to his name, he began collecting Sneak King seriously as a joke. With about 200 copies, he started a YouTube channel with his friend and co-star Bobby Ramos, dedicated to chronicle the collection process. In the second episode, the couple meet with a private collector in California, where they buy a thousand copies of the game, which they somehow fit into Leeroy’s small car.
If you ask Leeroy Patterson why he does this, his common response is, “If they’re worth anything one day, we’re rich! If they’re worth nothing, it’s a fun story and journey!” While I doubt the former will be implemented, the latter certainly seems true.If otherwise, it’s a good excuse to hang out with a friend and visit some mom-and-pop video game stores. And if it turns out that Burger The King mascot is an actual demon from another dimension who hungers for human souls, he will go after Leeroy Patterson first and we will all appreciate his brave sacrifice.
