Suspicious vehicle requests response from SWAT, Beverly Hills Police – CBS Los Angeles

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA) – A suspicious vehicle in the middle of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive has received responses from several authorities, including a bomb squad and SWAT.

The vehicle was reported around 7pm on Saturday night when it stopped in the middle of the intersection. Around 22.40 the standoff was still in progress.

23:15 SWAT had taken over the situation by using various methods to try to break the vehicle safely.

They removed the driver from the vehicle at about 1 p.m. 23.30, where they began performing life-saving techniques when the man appeared to be unable to do so.

The first reports were that the van was causing a traffic hazard in the area of ​​Wilshire Boulevard and Spalding Drive.

As authorities tried to contact the driver, the vehicle drove off before stopping on Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive.

There are no indications of how many other than the driver are in the car.

All windows are covered with what appears to be aluminum foil, preventing the authorities from seeing the inside of the vehicle.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the site and they are directing traffic away from the area.
