Anton Walkes, a defender for Main League Soccer workforce Charlotte FC, died Thursday after a ship he was working crashed into one other vessel in Miami, authorities stated. He was 25.

Walkes was discovered unconscious after the collision Wednesday afternoon close to Miami Marine Stadium, in line with the Miami Herald. He was rushed to a hospital in vital situation after Miami Hearth-Rescue reportedly tried CPR on the scene.

“We're heartbroken from the lack of Anton Walkes, a very unbelievable father, loving individual and excellent human being,” Charlotte FC’s sporting director Zoran Krneta informed CBS Sports activities. “Anton embodied what it means to be part of Charlotte Soccer Membership and our whole neighborhood is grieving over this tragedy.”

Walkes joined Charlotte FC in 2021 and began in 21 of the 23 video games he appeared in final season. He made 93 MLS appearances in whole. In 2020, he informed The Mirror that his girlfriend had delivered their first baby, saying household meant “the world” to him.
