‘Tired of crying over our previous life, we need to start afresh’ - one family’s story from Irpin

Euronews first met this Ukrainian couple from Irpin again in 2019 through the presidential elections in Ukraine.

“It was very scary," Anastasia remembers. "My husband was on the balcony and the warplanes went simply above his head. He thought the rockets have been launched in the direction of us and screamed ‘on the ground’ all of us fell after which all of us hid within the lavatory, the place we bought dressed and went to the underground cellar. Since then, the kids didn’t wish to return upstairs in any respect. We spent one night time within the cellar and, within the morning, we hit the street.”
