John Dean ― President Richard Nixon’s White Home counsel who testified in opposition to his boss and served 4 months in jail for the Watergate coverup ― mentioned Sunday that media personalities defending Donald Trump within the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago could have “egg throughout their face.” (Watch the video beneath.)
Brian Stelter of CNN’s “Dependable Sources” requested Dean in regards to the right-wingmedia’s accusations that the FBI seek for labeled paperwork at Trump’s Florida resort was politically motivated.
“Properly, I feel that they don’t appear to need to recognize that the FBI and different federal legislation enforcement in addition to state and native, they implement search warrants on daily basis, in opposition to each type of individual,” Dean replied.
“And there’s a motive ― Trump provoked this. He’s the one who didn’t cooperate. He’s the one who pressured [Attorney General] Merrick Garland’s hand. We don’t know what it's he has or had.”
Garland, he continued, is “any individual who does it by the ebook, so I feel these individuals are going to have egg throughout their face when that is over. Whereas they could not ever admit it, there, there actually ought to.”
Final month Dean instructed CNN that he believed a felony case in opposition to Trump would evolve from the committee hearings into the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
