Kate Middleton wanted by Grenadier Guards to replace disgraced Prince Andrew as their colonel

THE Grenadier Guards need the Duchess of Cambridge to exchange disgraced Prince Andrew as their colonel, it's claimed.

Senior officers within the 366-year-old regiment are longing for Kate, 40, to be the primary feminine appointed to the ceremonial position.

The Queen, 95, took the position by default when she stripped Andrew of his navy titles this month amid sexual assault allegations, which he denies.

The appointment is set by the regiment and Her Maj.

A senior supply within the Guards informed The Sunday Instances: “From straw polling via the ranks, they'd all find it irresistible to be Kate. All of us admire the way in which she has fitted in and behaved.

“She by no means appears to place a foot fallacious.”

A navy supply mentioned: “The identify of the brand new colonel was resulting from have been introduced and it wasn’t the Duchess of Cambridge.

"That it wasn’t introduced means they’ve been fascinated about it once more.”

Andrew, 61, grew to become colonel-in-chief of the Grenadier Guards in 2017 after inheriting the place from the Duke of Edinburgh.

It's understood an announcement about his successor has been delayed.

Amongst his eight different navy honours had been Honorary air commodore of RAF Lossiemouth and Deputy colonel-in-chief of The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeth's Personal).

And it's now believed he may lose his 24-hour police safety and bodyguards too as he's "not a working royal".

Buckingham Palace mentioned in an announcement earlier this month: "With The Queen's approval and settlement, The Duke of York’s navy affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen.

"The Duke of York will proceed to not undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a non-public citizen."
