Newly engaged woman was told to ‘shut up’ by NYC

Like any newly engaged, Bailey Kenworthy wanted to shout his news from the rooftops of New York City.

Her mistake was that she thought New York City would give some shit.

“I’m engaged, New York!” Texan Bailey Kenworthy, 24, shouted out of an apartment window, unable to contain her joy in a TikTok post last week.

The answer? Direct aggressive indifference.

“Shut up for fk!” a cyclist can be heard shouting below.

“I love this,” she joked to the camera.

The video – with the subtitle “The Coziest City” – has garnered 2.1 million views and more than 313,000 likes.

“I love having my video blown up,” Kenworthy, who works as a patient service specialist for the University of Texas Medical Branch’s COVID Urgent Care, told The Post. “I enjoy when others laugh at my jokes.”

“It translates to congratulations sea,” commented the official Duolingo account, referring to the hard love for New York.

“It’s a New Yorker’s way of saying congratulations,” joked another.

Kenworthy and her fiancé, Miguel, 28, were just visiting Manhattan when they took a trip to the DUMBO pier, where he proposed.

“He played it off by putting our camera on a bench and saying, ‘Let’s record ourselves posing,'” she said. “While we were posing, he did.”

She shared a festive snap on Instagram with the caption “Best. Day. Ever. #Engagedaf.”

(And yes, she’s wearing a “salt crew” hat, she said, because Miguel completely surprised her.)

While the engagement is still new, the duo are already planning a wedding, potentially in November 2023, if COVID allows it.

Other commentators were quick to connect with the show “Friends” when Monica Geller shouted from her balcony, “I’m engaged! I’m engaged!”

“Ok Monica,” wrote another.

“This gives Monica vibes,” said another.

Despite the comparisons between the iconic TV show scene and Kenworthy’s post, she said the idea was “100% original.”

“‘Friends’ is fun,” she said. “I love this, [it] was my whole mood the whole week we spent in NYC, no matter how unfriendly anyone acted. “
