Supercar’s young gunman Will Brown produced a fiery round in qualifying to grab the bar for the Top-10 Shootout at Bathurst 1000.
The 23-year-old from Erebus Motorsport, who competed at the Bathurst 1000 for the first time, put a lap of 2: 03.898.
One driver at the other end of his career – the legendary Jamie Whincup – sensationally missed the top 10 and finished as 11th.

Tim Slade set a brilliant time late in the session to snatch a fourth-place finish and knock Whincup out of the top 10.
Brown was so caught up in celebrating his magnificent race that he probably missed the drama surrounding Whincup.
“I played some balls out there and took a dip!” said Brown on the Fox Sports broadcast.
“It was fucking amazing. How good it was!
“Making a 2:03 around here … I didn’t care if I got pole or not – it’s a pretty bad time. I’m just pumped.”
The supercars’ big Mark Scaife was stunned.
“Absolutely unique!” Scaife said on the Fox Sports broadcast.
“Brilliant work.”
Scaife had put into perspective prior to qualifying how important the pole was.
“It’s massive, it’s massive,” Scaife said on Fox Sports coverage.
“It scares everyone.
“If you’re the fastest this afternoon, you walk out of this joint with a spring in your crotch, and you walk into tomorrow with a very, very big smile on your face.”
