Top tips for creating the perfect school in Happy Home Paradise

For the first time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we are unleashed with the opportunity to create work facilities. From a cafe to a hospital, Happy Home Paradise needs you to bring them to life. First is the school, so here are five tips to make the perfect classroom.

1. Think about your space

The most important thing to consider when designing your new school is the room itself. Start with the size. How big should the space be? In order for your new place to qualify as a school, you need to place certain things, e.g. desks. So you need a room that is large enough to accommodate everything your students need. We would advise you to go for the largest space you can, to make the perfect schoolroom you need lots of space. You also need to think about whether you want windows or whether it will be taken care of by your wallpaper.

You can always resize the room later if needed. Although, do not forget, this is a place that your students and teacher will also walk around in, so think about it

2. Place essentials first

To get Lottie to accept your new school, place two desks, four chairs, and a teacher’s desk, so start with that. Find out which direction you want your learning space to be laid out – either lengthwise or widthwise – and then you’re off to the basic space. This will make it much easier to design the rest of your classroom. Most items can also be customized so you can adjust the color scheme from the option you get automatically.

Decide what kind of classroom you want it for

Now comes the fun part of what exactly they want to teach in this room. You may not want to think too much about exactly how old Animal Crossing villagers are, but you will want to design a great learning environment that meets certain criteria. You could go after the early years with ABC posters, toys and other things aimed at younger students. Or keep it pretty generic like a classic high school room.

For something a little different, thematize around a particular school subject, like music with different kinds of instruments. Or art, with space filled with easels and (potentially fake) versions of the big ones. Or set out your space with microscopes and bubbling elixirs to teach experimental science.

Whatever you choose, it’s fun to add extras and the little details.

Make the most of each area

Classrooms are not just about learning, so be sure to spend some time thinking about the other elements of your room. Do your students need a place to throw away their bags or store their coats. Do you need filing cabinets or bookshelves to make your classroom feel complete? There are plenty of options for adding additional details to your space.

And last but not least, the Happy Home Paradise introduces other elements of room design that should not be forgotten. For example, add some ceiling lights to change the feel of the room. Use another wallpaper to add a feature wall. Or even experiment with adding partitions and columns to carve out a small area of space for cabinets, as we mentioned before.

And that should be enough to set you on the path to creating a happy learning space for your resident in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise.
