Suspected image released after man pushed onto rails and towed by train at Toronto subway station: police

TORONTO – An investigation into aggravated assault is underway after a man was allegedly pushed onto the rails at Bloor-Yonge subway station and towed by an oncoming train last week, Toronto police said.

The officers responded to a call about unknown problems at the station in the center around noon. 17:22 on 26 November. Police said a 36-year-old man was carrying a large box on the platform at the time.

The man carrying the box accidentally came in contact with another man, police said, and an altercation ensued.

That was when the 36-year-old man was allegedly pushed by the suspect and fell on the rails as a train approached.

Police told CTV News Toronto that the victim tried to escape from the track but was eventually hit and dragged off the train.

His injuries were serious but not life-threatening, police said. He was treated at the hospital after the incident.

The suspect is described by police as standing six feet tall, with a slender build and light brown hair. He was wearing a black coat, a light brown hoodie with the hood up, black pants, gray running shoes and was wearing a blue backpack with a floral pattern at the time of the alleged attack.

Anyone with information related to the investigation should contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers.
