Environment Canada has issued a special weather report for Vancouver and the surrounding area, as rain and snow combined with cool temperatures can bring freezing rain.
The weather bureau advises residents and anyone traveling through Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge to prepare for icy conditions. Rain and snow prospects for the area can quickly turn to ice.
Freezing rain may develop Tuesday afternoon to Tuesday night, Environment Canada said. Freezing rain is possible over Metro Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast.
A mix of snow and rain is expected to begin in the afternoon. Environment Canada states that this mixture of precipitation can turn to freezing rain, especially in the interior.
Vancouver expects to see a maximum of 1 ° C on Tuesday before temperatures change to 2 ° C later tonight.
Rain and snow are forecast for the rest of the week.
