Snow knocks power out in Moorlands

Homeowners in North Staffordshire have been left without power after heavy snow brought by Storm Arwen.

They woke up this morning and stood without electricity and the snow drifted up towards their home.

In the Onecote area, the power is down. Very strong winds have created significant snow drifts.

Over Staffordshire, snow has fallen overnight, but higher terrain has taken up most of it.

A number of events have had to be canceled due to the weather brought in by Storm Arwen. Trentham’s popular manufacturers’ market has been canceled, as has the Penkridge market.

The forecast indicates that the storm will begin to subside later today. But warnings are still in place throughout the region.

Winds up to 70 mph have been reported in exposed areas.
