Friends,
For nearly 14 years, Streetsblog Los Angeles has been a loud and consistent voice for greener transportation options, reasonable transportation costs and policies, and a defender of the Los Angeles community. Even with the ongoing support from major foundations and our advertising program, almost a third of our operating assets come from individual donors.
To make it easier for people to support us, we have opened an account with Patreon (sign up for a monthly donation) and plans on many fun ways to interact with our readers and donors. Whether you donate through Patreon or our regular donation portal, you will be entitled to all the fun activities and delights we have planned.
This year we have canceled or reduced most of our personal fundraising, but we hope you will help us make amends for our End of the Year Fundraising Drive. Our goal is to raise $ 30,000 in the next month throughout California, half of which will come from Southern California.
If you’re already sold and want to make a deductible donation to Streetsblog, you can do so at Patreon or Donorbox. If you need more information about an employer match program or anything else, please email our director at damien@streetsblog.org.
It’s been a great year for Streetsblog LA, where our reporting has contributed to many improvements on the ground for Angelenos. Among this year’s remarkable stories:
From bus lanes to bike sharing to Metro to LADOT to sidewalks to bike paths to highways, SBLA brings you up-to-date news that you can’t find anywhere else.
We cannot do this without the support of our readers. If you can, we hope you’re considering donating to Streetsblog Los Angeles so our little team can keep it up. In the coming weeks, you will hear more about how our coverage has impacted policies and projects across the state, and what we plan for 2022. In the meantime, we would be honored if you would consider donating today.
All the best,
Damien Newton
PS – One final remark, earlier this year the IRS erroneously revoked the 501c (3) categorization for our nonprofit organization, the Southern California Streets Initiative. The IRS has admitted this error and restored our status (PDF of letter). But some sites and some matching programs have still listed us as “inactive”. You can be sure that this is a mistake, and if you share with us which organization we have listed incorrectly, we can have our status corrected. Email us at damien@streetsblog.org
