More than half of drivers think the 2030 petrol and diesel car ban should be moved back or scrapped

MORE than half of drivers assume the 2030 petrol and diesel automotive ban needs to be moved again or scrapped.

They imagine it's too quickly to push by way of the swap to electrical automobiles.

Their worries embody the upper price of EVs and a scarcity of chargers.

A complete of 54 per cent assume the date needs to be pushed again or ditched, a Savanta ballot for the Alliance of British Drivers discovered.

And 6 in ten in favour of the ban need it pushed again by ten years or extra.

Half of drivers say they pay an excessive amount of on automobile tax, gas tax, congestion charges and emissions fees.

Brian Gregory, from the alliance, stated: “Drivers are not looking for their choices restricted nor do they imagine a ban needs to be imposed as early as 2030.

"It is usually clear the Chancellor must rethink the punitive tax measures levied on motorists.”

MP Craig MacKinlay, of Honest Gas, added: “The ban didn't make sense when introduced, and doesn't make sense now.”

The Division for Transport stated: “We’ve put greater than £2billion into serving to motorists transition to electrical automobiles and stay dedicated to phasing out new petrol and diesel vehicles and vans by 2030.”
