RISHI Sunak says he has a plan to get a brand new deal which can repair the Northern Eire Protocol.
Maybe the PM will flip magician and conjure up a rabbit out of the hat.
However I don’t suppose there are any rabbits — or perhaps a hat to tug them from.
If his plan entails retaining any a part of the protocol the DUP won't be going again into power-sharing. It's that easy.
It will be puzzling for a chief minister to expend a lot political capital, risking mutiny from his MPs, if it doesn't restore power-sharing.
We're approaching the twenty fifth anniversary of the Good Friday Settlement.
However we should not rush a deal to hit a deadline.
That is about who governs, who makes the legal guidelines — us or the EU?
There should be no give up.
