GOP Rep. Andy Biggs Receives Embarrassing Jan. 6 Fact Check Live On Air

C-SPAN anchor Greta Brawner fact-checked far-right Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) throughout a viewer call-in phase Friday.

On the “Washington Journal” program, one caller instructed Biggs how offended he was about former President Donald Trump’s want “to pardon the traitors ... convicted of seditious conspiracy” over the lethal U.S. Capitol riot that happened on Jan. 6, 2021.

“Come on. What the hell’s fallacious with you Republicans?” the caller requested.

Biggs, a Trump loyalist who helped set up the “Cease the Steal” rally that happened instantly earlier than the riot, falsely claimed that no one had been convicted of that cost in relation to the assault.

“Not all had been convicted of seditious treason. Actually, none had been. And in order that’s necessary to know,” he stated. “The second factor I might say is lots of them had been convicted of misdemeanor trespass. And I believe that’s necessary to know as properly.”

After taking a second name, Brawner circled again to Biggs’ first reply and instructed him, “Congressman, USA Right this moment had this headline again in November of 2022 that Stewart Rhodes, the Oath Keepers’ founder, was discovered responsible of seditious conspiracy.”

“Oh, OK,” Biggs replied. “Yeah, properly, I didn’t comply with that case.”

Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, who ran the far-right group’s Florida chapter, had been discovered responsible final 12 months of seditious conspiracy, a cost that carries a sentence of as much as 20 years behind bars.

Greater than 1,000 folks have now been charged in relation to the riot on the Capitol.
