Blinken calls for 'urgent steps' to restore calm between Israel and Palestine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Israel and the Palestinians on Monday to ease tensions following a spike in violence that has put the area on edge. 

The bloodshed has alarmed the Biden administration because it makes an attempt to seek out widespread floor with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new right-wing authorities.

But apart from appeals for de-escalation and restraint, Blinken didn't publicly provide any specific concepts for calming the scenario and it was not instantly clear from his assembly with Netanyahu that the administration can be proposing any. 

Blinken will meet Tuesday with Palestinian chief Mahmoud Abbas.

“We’re urging all sides now to take pressing steps to revive calm, to de-escalate,” he mentioned after assembly Netanyahu.
