Sweden has taken over the rotating presidency of the EU Council for the third time since becoming a member of the bloc. The primary main assembly of its present time period will happen on Friday.
Stockholm has promised to uphold basic European values over the six-month stint however some EU analysts query whether or not home politics will have an effect.
The nordic nation's new right-wing coalition authorities is propped up by the far-right Sweden Democrats and led by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
