Stephen Colbert took his Georgia Senate election jokes out of storage and used them on Trump-backed Republican candidate Herschel Walker throughout his monologue on Wednesday.
“The Late Present” host, shocked that an estimated 48.6% of Georgia voters supported Walker within the runoff election, poked enjoyable on the race, which marked the primary time a Democratic president noticed the Senate achieve a seat for his or her social gathering since 1962. He dusted off an envelope “sealed with wax” and pulled out joke after joke in regards to the runoff, which Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock gained on Tuesday.
“Warnock has gained Georgia. It’s becoming he’s a reverend, as a result of once I hear that every one I can say is thank God,” Colbert quipped.
“It is a robust break for Walker, although. It's going to take him a few days to know what has occurred.”
He continued: “With this loss, Walker is meant to return to his earlier job, mendacity about having earlier jobs. However on the intense facet, it offers him extra time to spend along with his household and extra time to determine who that's.”
