Russia denounces Moldova's ban of TV channels as 'political censorship'

MOSCOW – Russia on Saturday denounced a choice by neighbouring Moldova to quickly ban six tv channels as “political censorship”.

The small ex-Soviet state of Moldova accused the channels of airing “incorrect info” concerning the nation and Russia’s army operation in Ukraine.

The channels – a few of which broadcast in Moldovan and a few in Russian – are intently tied to politician and businessman Ilan Shor, who fled the nation in 2019 after the election of pro-Western President Maia Sandu.
