A Connecticut mom jumped into motion when a raccoon bit her 5-year-old daughter within the leg and latched on ― and her heroism was caught on surveillance video.
The clip exhibits Logan Kelsey MacNamara rapidly reacting to the raccoon attacking 5-year-old Rylee on the porch of their Ashford dwelling on Friday. Rylee screamed whereas trying to kick off the animal because it clamped on simply above her foot.
MacNamara pulled the raccoon off by the scruff of the neck, warning each Rylee and another person to remain inside as a result of the raccoon might be rabid. The mother then tossed the raccoon apart.
MacNamara shared the video of the “unprovoked” assault at Rylee’s request, she stated on Fb. “I can’t let you know how proud I'm of this Courageous lady!!” she wrote.
“The mom behaved in a manner that was very heroic,” Geoff Krukar, a wildlife biologist for the state Division of Power and Environmental Safety, instructed Fox 61. “I feel she did every little thing appropriately by avoiding getting bit and warning the neighbor to remain again and getting the kid to security.”
Rylee and MacNamara each obtained a spherical of rabies pictures, the mom wrote in Fb updates, noting that the animal had not been discovered.
