Michel is predicted to go to Qatar on Tuesday, in line with his official schedule.

European governments have been looking for alternate options to fuel from fundamental provider Russia since Moscow ordered troops into Ukraine in late February, with Europe’s energy prices surging as Russian flows dropped.

State-owned QatarEnergy, one of many world’s prime pure fuel exporters, has been negotiating with a number of European consumers for months, however no new offers have been introduced.

“Charles Michel will meet a number of high-level officers to debate and evaluation regional and worldwide points together with the Russia-Ukraine disaster, power disaster, along with quite a lot of different points like Afghanistan, Iran, and Palestine-Israel,” the Qatari official instructed Reuters.

European leaders, already struggling to handle hovering fuel costs, worry winter fuel shortages as Russia introduced plans to maintain its main fuel pipeline to Europe shut. Russia sometimes supplies 40% of Europe’s pure fuel.

Most present volumes of Qatari pure fuel are locked into long-term contracts, primarily with consumers in Asia, which Qatar has stated it would honour.

Moreover, Qatar is looking for new prospects for a significant enlargement of its fuel output which is able to increase its exports by some 63% and is ready to return on-line in early 2027.
