S.Africa's MTN first-half earnings jump 46.5%

– South African cellular operator MTN Group stated on Thursday its first-half earnings surged 46.5% because it added extra subscribers.

MTN, which operates throughout Africa and the Center East, reported headline earnings per share, the principle revenue measure in South Africa, of 567 cents within the six-months ended June 30, up from 387 cents a 12 months earlier.
