Russia's watchdog imposes measures against TikTok, Telegram, Zoom, Discord, Pinterest

MOSCOW – Russia’s state communications watchdog Roskomnadzor stated on Friday that it was taking punitive measures in opposition to a string of overseas IT corporations, together with TikTok, Telegram, Zoom, Discord and Pinterest.

In a press release, Roskomnadzor stated that the measures had been in response to the businesses’ failure to take away content material that it had flagged as unlawful, and would stay in place till they complied. It didn't specify what measures can be taken.

Russia has repeatedly threatened to effective websites – together with Google, that violate harsh new legal guidelines criminalising the spreading of “false info” concerning the Russian military.

On Tuesday, Russian courts fined U.S.-based dwell streaming service Twitch 2 million roubles ($33,000) and messenger service Telegram 11 million roubles ($179,000) for violating navy censorship legal guidelines.
