– The governor of Russia’s Kaliningrad area on Monday proposed a complete ban on the motion of products between the three Baltic states and Russia, in response to what authorities within the exclave have referred to as a “blockade” of it by Lithuania.
“As a reciprocal measure we suggest to utterly prohibit the motion of products (together with these in transit from third international locations) between the three Baltic States and Russia,” governor Anton Alikhanov mentioned.
The Kaliningrad area could be excepted from the ban, he added.
Lithuania on Monday expanded restrictions on commerce by its territory to the exclave, as phase-ins of earlier-announced European Union sanctions in opposition to Moscow took impact.
