Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro kicks off election campaign at Rio rally

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has formally launched his re-election marketing campaign.

1000's of the far-right chief's supporters gathered at a stadium in Rio de Janeiro the place he was nominated.

The controversial president pitched the upcoming ballot as a struggle between good and evil and he wasted no time in attacking his major challenger for the presidency, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a former president typically merely often known as Lula.

"We're the bulk, we're the nice ones," Bolsonaro instructed cheering supporters, "and we're keen to struggle for our freedom and our homeland. We have now to draw the younger leftists to our aspect, present them the reality and present them what they must lose with their candidate."

Bolsonaro continued to warn towards what he calls "flaws" within the electoral system.

Such assaults in latest months have led analysts to worry that the person dubbed the "Tropical Trump," might refuse to simply accept defeat like his former American counterpart.

Lula was formally nominated by his left-wing Staff Celebration (PT) final week.

Analysts say this race between the left and proper for the presidency is Brazil’s most polarised election in many years.
