The star of “Ms. Marvel” earned her breakthrough position after receiving a “tremendous sketchy” message from a member of the family.
Iman Vellani, a 19-year-old Pakistani-Canadian actor, will play Ms. Marvel (a.ok.a. Kamala Khan) ― the primary Muslim superhero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe ― within the new coming-of-age Disney+ collection of the identical title. Khan is a Pakistani-American lady and fan of superheroes who has “an outsized creativeness – notably with regards to Captain Marvel,” per Disney+’s description of the collection.
On “The Tonight Present” Tuesday, Vellani instructed host Jimmy Fallon how she landed her first performing position after graduating highschool.
“My aunt forwarded me a WhatsApp of the casting name. Tremendous sketchy, I don’t know what casting calls appear like however I’m like obsessive about Marvel [Comics], I’m obsessive about ‘Ms. Marvel,’ I learn all of the comics in highschool, dressed up as her on Halloween,” Vellani mentioned.
