Hailstones pile up as heavy storms hit Germany

Intense storms in southern and western Germany noticed hailstones pile as much as half a metre excessive.

A lot hail fell within the village of Weiler, in Bavaria, over such a brief time frame that some roads had been completely blocked with ice.

Many streets, squares and even gardens had been briefly reworked into winter landscapes by the heavy hailstorms. 

Timber had been uprooted and the fireplace brigade needed to exit to pump out flooded cellars through the storms.

Nearly a 12 months in the past, Germany confronted considered one of its biggest pure disasters when scores died after torrential rain hit western elements of the nation.
