Britain urges EU to change post-Brexit trade rules with N.Ireland

LONDON – British overseas minister Liz Truss advised the European Union’s Maros Sefcovic on Monday the bloc have to be prepared to vary post-Brexit guidelines governing commerce with Northern Eire, repeating that London needed a “negotiated resolution”.

“Spoke to (European Fee) Vice President Maros Sefcovic to debate the laws we're asserting at present to repair the issues with the Northern Eire Protocol and restore political stability,” Truss stated on Twitter.

“Our desire is a negotiated resolution, however EU have to be prepared to vary the Protocol itself.”

The EU aspect criticised London’s strikes to dismantle the so-called Northern Irish protocol.

“Unilateral motion is damaging to mutual belief & a formulation for uncertainty,” Sefcovic stated on Twitter.
