The Camunga Symphony Orchestra - More than just a musical education

For the previous decade, the Camunga Symphony Orchestra music college in Luanda has polished rough-cut diamonds of youth and altered their lives for the higher. 

The college and orchestra get their identify from its founder Ntumba Malamba Camunga. Camunga means "a small factor that's born, grows after which shines", the founder tells us. He believes the identify is especially applicable for this college as "it began off as a small challenge, then it grew and now it's shining"

The college was created in 2011 with simply 5 college students. 10 years later there at the moment are 450 college students and a few of them have even develop into academics on the college. 

Robust beginnings

Not all the scholars that attend the college have come from simple backgrounds and pleased locations.Ntumba Malamba Camunga explains that the college helps many kids on the road, "kids concerned in delinquency, medication and even prostitution."

Kelson's story

Kelson Bento Afonso is one pupil with a tough previous. He now considers the orchestra his residence, household and place of consolation. However he has come a good distance for that to be the case. Making the trouble

A few of the music college's college students need to journey very far to get to the teachings. That is the case for 13-year-old Delcio Macedo. He travels 56 kilometres only for the music. He's enthusiastic about enjoying the violin. "Music is admittedly in his soul", his mom says.

A part of the orchestra's operation is to battle malnutrition. As Ntumba says, "you may't do a lot on an empty abdomen." The scholars can get meals on the college.
