IMF says held 'fruitful' technical talks with Sri Lanka on loan request

WASHINGTON – The Worldwide Financial Fund stated on Saturday that its employees held “fruitful technical discussions” with Sri Lankan authorities on the crisis-wracked nation’s request for an IMF-supported mortgage program this week.

The Fund stated in an announcement that the discussions included the necessity for Sri Lanka to implement “a reputable and coherent technique” to revive macroeconoimc stability and to strengthen its social security web and shield the poor and susceptible in the course of the present disaster.

“The IMF crew welcomed the authorities’ plan to interact in a collaborative dialogue with their collectors,” IMF Sri Lanka mission chief Masahiro Nozaki stated in an announcement.
