Hickmon was the president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, a nonprofit group that gives group service throughout the globe.

The sorority's official Twitter account tweeted on Thursday: "It's with nice sorrow that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. shares the passing of our beloved Nationwide President and Chair of the Nationwide Board of Administrators, Cheryl A. Hickmon.

"President Hickmon transitioned peacefully on January 20, 2022 after a current sickness."

The sorority didn't verify her official explanation for dying.

Following the sorority president's dying, Marcia L Fudge, Secretary of Housing and City Growth and nationwide previous president of the sorority, spoke with TheGrio's White Home correspondent April Ryan.

Hickmon stayed affiliated with the group properly after her commencement from SCSU in 1984.
