A group of insurance companies announced plans to create 60 jobs in Northern Ireland.

Prestige Insurance Holdings will invest PS3m in order to increase its digital capabilities.

The group will launch a new digital broking brand in the next year.

These roles will be located in Londonderry, Newry, and Belfast. There may also be remote-working opportunities. They will include customer support, product management, and marketing jobs.

Prestige Insurance Holdings includes, among other things, AbbeyAutoline and Trumo.

Trevor Shaw, chief executive of the company, stated that they are committed to Northern Ireland growth.

He said, "As a local business, we have a passion for growth and expanding the market. We are constantly looking for opportunities to grow our business through acquisition and our talent pool."

'Big changes'

Brian Allen, digital's managing director, stated that they had done extensive research to determine what they could offer their customers.

He said that the pandemic saw an acceleration in the shift to a digital world, triggered by online shopping habits changes that are likely have lasting repercussions.

"Digital technology is a powerful force driving major changes in the insurance industry.

"The changing landscape of insurance has resulted in a flood of technological advances within the industry. Customers are now more comfortable interacting with us."

"Consumers can order groceries, book a taxi, and bank online all at the touch of one button. The same goes for purchasing insurance.
