Police will be on guard for driving offenses, and depending on where you are, any violations of the road rules may swirl more than usual with double the disadvantages in some jurisdictions.
Here’s what you need to know.
The double penalty period runs from kl. 12.01 on December 24 to kl. 23.59 on 3 January.
There will be stricter penalties for speeding, mobile phone violations, seat belts and motorcycle helmets.
The double shortage period is longer in Western Australia and runs from December 24th to January 9th inclusive.
Stricter penalties will be imposed for speeding, drink-driving or drug driving, harness offenses, driving at a red light, telephone use or driving to avoid speed cameras.
The final penalty, which covers both the way of driving and the use of any device to distort or block a speed camera, will result in 14 points.

Sunshine State’s dual points system runs all year round.
But this only applies to recidivism offenses – if you commit the same driving law twice (or more) in a 12-month period, all subsequent offenses will be punished after the first with double inconvenience.
Violations that fall into this category include speeding, telephone use, harness offenses and motorcycle helmet offenses.
Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory
These jurisdictions do not have double deerit periods at all.
But people are apparently still encouraged to drive safely and cautiously at all times – and police are likely to be out on the roads during the holiday season.
