The Call Your Mother deli brings its hit bagels to the West End neighborhood as it slides into a section of space occupied by sister restaurant Mercy Me. The sixth location in the DC area of the acclaimed deli opens at Yours Truly DC Hotel at 1143 New Hampshire Avenue NW in January.
“We are very encouraged to expand our partnership with Mercy Me and Yours Truly by bringing CYM to the West End,” said Andrew Dana, the brand’s co-owner and founder. “This has long been one of my favorite neighborhoods because it’s here, so much intersects: colleges, offices, homes and even tourists. It’s a neighborhood with something for everyone and we’re looking forward to becoming a regular ingredient for breakfast, coffee or lunch, which complements Mercy Me’s fantastic bar menu and dinner. ”
Along with regulars on the bagel and Jewish deli playlist, Call Your Mother serves inventive za’atar-dusty bagels and The Horizon all bagel sandwiches filled with Fritos, avocados, red onions and jalapeños.

Named one of Eater’s best restaurants in America in 2019, Call Your Mother garnered national attention for translating old-fashioned delicacy culture in creative ways that effectively ended DC’s “very-quetched-about bagel drought.”
The Biden administration got hip to the bagel shop, where the procession stopped at the Georgetown location in January 2021 on its way back from Holy Trinity Catholic Church so President Biden could enjoy a sesame bagel with cream cheese. It was the president’s first public visit to a DC restaurant since his inauguration four days earlier. Over the next three months, sales increased by 40%, according to Washington Business Journal.
Meanwhile, Mercy Me will continue to serve dinner and run the bar at Yours Truly. A collaboration between the owners of Call Your Mother and former Doi Moi chef Johanna Hellrigl, the self-described “kind of South American” restaurant opened in June 2020.
Call Your Mother counts Biden administration official Jeffrey Zients as an investor. With plans to keep expanding, the bagel store is already planning its seventh location for Old Town Alexandria with plans to open in late spring, according to Washington Business Journal. They will also add some new items to the menu.
The deli will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Online bookings are encouraged on weekends and at busy times.
