Authorities ‘knowledgeable’ about truck driver’s dangerous passport captured on video – BC News

Truckers dangerous passports

Authorities say they are watching a video posted on social media this week showing a dangerous passage of a transport truck on Highway 5A.

The winding two-lane road between Princeton and Aspen Grove has received an unprecedented amount of commercial traffic due to the closure of Coquihalla.

Highway 3 has been closed at intervals east of Princeton due to flooding, making it the only commercial route between the lower mainland and the interior.

A video circulating online showing a transport truck passing another truck on a double solid body coming out of a corner has aroused outrage on social media.

The BC Highway Patrol responded to the video on Twitter, saying officers in the area “have been notified.”

“The words dangerous and unprofessional appear. Please do not sacrifice safety for speed – we will get the pressure you are under, “said the BCHP, adding that the province cannot afford more long motorway closures due to crashes.

The Highway 3 corridor has already seen several fatalities with transport trucks since the route was reopened after the floods.

The BC Department of Transportation also responded to the video on Twitter, stating that Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement “is aware of it.”

“Your staff will follow up with the carrier involved,” Transportation BC said.
