Christmas Village Markets at Haig Park Village Markets

With Christmas just around the corner, Haig Park Village Markets will get Braddon in a party mood with their very own Christmas Village Markets throughout December, with cheerful theme market days on Sunday in December.

Imagine a summer party with drinks, live Christmas songs, string quartets and Christmas-themed market stalls that combine to delight your senses. Culinary delicacies from the region, fresh ingredients, handicrafts, handmade jewelry, Christmas decorations and much more – all set the stage for a festive Christmas experience among the pine trees in Haig Park.

Kids can make their own gingerbread decorations to hang on the tree or even see the big man in red. Why not sit back with a beer, wine or G&T and take it easy in the summer breeze while listening to a skilled array of local musicians with a charcuterie or cheese board.

The stranger

The Stranger is known as one of the great character studies in modern literature and is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Albert Camus. One of Canberra’s most famous actors, Christopher Samuel Carroll, delivers a fiery intensity performance in this solo atisation of a modern classic at the Ainslie and Gorman Arts Center.

Health and Wellness in the COVID-Normal, Community Lead (her) s Series

CBR Gals Network has developed Community Lead (here)’s Series with the ACT Office of Women to deliver a seminar and networking event called ‘Health and Wellbeing in the Covid Normal’. The event will be held on Wednesday, December 8 from kl. 17-20 at amBUSH Gallery in Kambri, ANU. Participants will learn about and discuss ongoing health and wellness COVID normal context and how Canberrans can thrive in a positive way while insecurity continues.

Participants will see two two keynote speakers, one presented by registered psychologist Brianna Thomas, the founder of My Colorful Mind Movement, who will focus on strategies for overcoming stress and anxiety. The second keynote will be presented by Legal Scholar, Professor, Co-Director of the 50/50 City 2030 Foundation, Kim Rubenstein, who will discuss the relationship between gender equality and well-being in the covid context. Both Brianna and Kim will then take part in a panel discussion, facilitated by CBR Gal’s founder and president, Rae Knopik.

Following these discussions, attendees of the event can join presenters of CBR Gals-style nibbles and networks, including the opportunity to speak with Brianna and Kim.

Tickets are by donation and include food and wine, seminar materials and the networking event. Funds raised will be donated to Lifeline Canberra.

Dancing on the street

Join the parade! Friday and Saturday nights come alive up to Christmas with wandering performances around Civic and Braddon.

While enjoying a meal at one of Sydney’s and Melbourne’s many restaurants on Friday night or in Braddon on Saturdays, keep an eye on the streets for a Latin Christmas samba parade, Christmas angels and other Christmas moods. Their dancers will include Liz Lea, Little Dove Performers and Flazeda.
