A Wisconsin police officer resigned after a recording appeared showing him engaging in sexual activity with a woman in his department vehicle.
The Madison Police Department investigated the incident on Sept. 16 and concluded that Lieutenant Reginald Patterson violated several departmental policies. Patterson resigned after the department decided that “a separation from the service” was the most appropriate response.

“Lieutenant Patterson’s recent actions are inconsistent with the Madison Police Department’s mission,” the department said in a statement.
The department gave Patterson administrative leave for two months and did not name the officer involved in the incident, but local media confirmed and named Patterson in mid-October.
The department had been preparing to fire Patterson, a 15-year veteran of the department. Patterson apologized for the incident as he withdrew.
