The wild weather will continue for three days across NSW and Queensland

A deluge of rain and thunderstorms is expected to hit the eastern half of Australia, in particular New South Wales and Queensland.

A trough on the upper level will form a cut-off lichen and move east, causing moist air to be over the eastern part of the country, according to Weatherzone.

BoM meteorologist Jonathan How said over 120 millimeters of rain fell yesterday through parts of the hunter and also the main north coast of NSW.

Mr. How said “50 to 100 millimeters” of rain is expected across eastern NSW, including Canberra and parts of Sydney.

He said the rainfall exceeded 100 millimeters in parts of Brisbane up towards Capricorn yesterday.

How added that the rain will intensify “from tomorrow and then peaks Thursday and Friday” across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Flood warnings remain in place in parts of NSW as the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) predicts that rain will continue to fall in large parts of the state.

A moderate flood warning has been issued for the Upper Hunter River in Deman.

While minor flooding is in place for the Bellinger River, Macleay River, Macyntire and Severn Rivers, Castlereagh River, Paroo River and Macquarie River.

Tropical Cyclone Paddy Paddy is located southeast of Christmas Island and does not pose an immediate threat to the mainland or any offshore community at present.

The Category 1 system will continue to move slowly southwards before moving westwards and starting to weaken later today.

Sydney will have a cloudy day with a chance of showers.

BoM said overnight rain has continued to add to the state’s wet landscape.

Temperatures are expected to reach 23C.

Another thunderstorm is forecast for Queensland with a high chance of showers.

The warnings of severe thunderstorms have become easier for the state.

Melbourne is expected to have a predominantly sunny day according to BoM with temperatures set to reach 26C.

But there is a possibility of showers in the late afternoon and evening.

Northern Territory is expected to have a predominantly clear day.

BoM has predicted a small chance of precipitation and a thunderstorm around the Cox Peninsula.
